Is hypnosis the same as sleep?
No, you won’t be asleep, but you will be sitting comfortably with eyes closed feeling deeply relaxed, and focussed on the therapist’s positive suggestions.

Can I get stuck in hypnosis?
You cannot get stuck in hypnosis. At any time you could choose to open your eyes or get up out of the chair. However, most people enjoy the feeling of relaxation to the extent that they are disappointed when the session has ended.

I've seen stage hypnotists make people say and do stupid things, how do I know that won't happen to me?
A professionally trained hypnotherapist will always aim to provide a positive and beneficial experience for their client and has no interest in making them say or do something that would make them feel uncomfortable. Always ensure the therapist you choose is a member of the General Hypnotherapy Register and abides by their codes of conduct.

I'm scared I'll be made to reveal my innermost secrets!
A hypnotherapist cannot make anyone reveal anything they don’t want to. The client always remains in control of what they say, just as they would be when out of hypnosis.

How many sessions will I need?
Everyone is different of course, and some issues, such as negative habits or phobias can be treated in just one session. Others, such as weight loss or stress related issues may take several more, but this can be discussed & agreed at the initial consultation.

I'm interested in having hypnotherapy but I'm not sure it's for me?
